My two cents on the CJP protest.
A minister's resignation is not something that should become the default demand in every controversy. In a democracy, resignation should either come from personal conscience, follow due legal accountability, or ultimately be decided by the people through elections. Demanding it as a political slogan, especially after a re-examination has already been conducted, shifts the focus away from the core issue. We've seen this government in the past refuse even to acknowledge paper leaks. In most such instances, the demand was simple and specific: a fair re-examination. I still remember the UPPSC RO/ARO 2023 protest-it remained focused on its objective and eventually succeeded. The farmers' movement, too, stayed anchored to its principal demands. What disappoints me about the current protest is not the demand for accountability, but the way it has unfolded.
